Junior School
Our Junior School program consists of a core program for students in Year 7 & 8. Throughout this phase of learning, students are taught by a range of teachers who are experts in their curriculum areas and enable students to be both challenged and supported. Junior School provides students with a safe environment to take on and adjust to the responsibilities of high school, and engages them in more independent behaviours, whilst forging new and lasting relationships with peers and staff.
Middle School
Our Middle School program consists of a range of subjects and opportunities for students in Years 9 & 10. Year 9 students have a program which includes core subjects, and two inquiry-based subjects which foster and emphasise connections with our local community and industries. Year 10 operates as a transitional year from the Middle school to the Senior school. Students undertake a 4-day onsite program which focuses on further building or enhancing skills and knowledge in preparation for Years 11 and 12. On Wednesdays, Year 10 students are provided with the opportunity to complete Vocational Education Training (VET) courses or gain work or industry experience through structured work placements. Throughout their middle years schooling, students at YHS are engaged with multiple career and pathways counselling activities to assist and ensure students are prepared for the senior schooling journey.
Senior School
Senior School encompasses student completing their Victorian Certificate of Education. If students post-high school pathway involves entering into university or a tertiary education setting requiring an ATAR ranking, students have the opportunity to undertake a scored VCE program studying 6 subjects, selected from a wide range of courses available both onsite and virtually. Yea High School also offers senior students the opportunity and support to undertake the VCE – Vocational Major (VCE-VM) course. The VCE – VM program consists of three school-based days (Monday, Thursday and Friday) where students are enrolled in four compulsory subjects, and on the other two days of the week, students are required to complete their chosen TAFE course (Wednesday) and find a suitable and approved work placement for each Tuesday. All senior students are provided with the opportunity to continue previous or undertake new Vocational Education Training courses at the beginning of Year 11.
