Established in 1956 and relocated to its current site in 1963, Yea High School is a co-educational secondary college situated 100 kilometres north-east of Melbourne. We provide high-quality public education to approximately 312 students from Yea and the surrounding rural and semi-rural communities of Glenburn, Murrindindi, Molesworth, Killingworth, Highlands, Homewood, Strath Creek, Kinglake and Flowerdale. Over 40% of our students travel by bus from the southern districts, reflecting the strong community links that underpin our school.
Our vision is to build relationships, create opportunities and inspire life-long learning. We believe that student success is best achieved when staff, families and the wider community work together to support learning and wellbeing. Guided by our values of Respect, Trust and Acceptance, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and aspirational environment where every young person can thrive.
Yea High School offers a diverse range of learning pathways across two campuses. Our main Yea campus delivers a comprehensive curriculum from Years 7–12, while our Flexible Learning Option (FLO), the Access Yea Community Education (AYCE) Program, supports around 116 students studying through centres in Bayswater and Geelong. AYCE plays a vital role in re-engaging young people in education through flexible and individualised learning opportunities.
Our dedicated staff work collaboratively to design engaging lessons aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, using High Impact Teaching Strategies and the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model to strengthen student outcomes. Targeted programs such as MYLNS, TLI and Numeracy Excellence provide tailored support and extension to ensure every learner experiences success.
Student wellbeing remains central to our work. Frameworks including School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), Berry Street Education Model, and Respectful Relationships guide our consistent, strengths-based approach. We work closely with families and external agencies to ensure each student is known, supported and connected. We hold high expectations for all members of our school community and consistently promote our core behaviours — to be respectful, be responsible, and be kind.
Looking ahead, we continue to focus on three key priorities:
- Learning and Teaching – ensuring high-quality, consistent and inclusive practice across all classrooms.
- Wellbeing and Inclusion – strengthening calm, supportive and safe learning environments.
- Community and Connection – deepening partnerships that enrich learning and engagement.
Yea High School is a dynamic, inclusive and forward-thinking place to learn and grow. I invite you to visit us and experience firsthand how we continue to evolve to meet the needs of every learner, today and into the future.
